The Firm has participated in almost every major privatization project carried out in Puerto Rico. PMA has acted as counsel to government and private entities in connection with structuring, creating the necessary legal framework and implementing the privatization transaction. The Firm was the lead counsel to the Government of Puerto Rico in connection with the sale of the Puerto Rico Telephone Company and the development of the Port of the Americas, a transshipment port facility. The Firm also acted as counsel to the private entity that developed and operates the Teodoro Moscoso Bridge, the only privatized highway facility in Puerto Rico, and as counsel to the private entity that developed and operated the first privatized corrections facility in Puerto Rico.
In connection with its work on privatization transactions, the Firm has been responsible for drafting the required legislation, designing the privatization process, negotiating the terms of the privatization, and documenting the transaction.
